Florida State University - When you apply for fall and get denied, are you considered for summer?

I heard that when you apply for the Fall semester for Florida State, if you get denied, they automatically reevaluate you for the summer session, since thats easier to get into. In other words, upon applying for fall, you may receive a letter of denial to fall but within that letter they may offer you admission for the summer session instead. Is this true?

FSU is my top school but I’m not sure if I could get into fall with a 1790 SAT and 3.2 UW GPA (3.6 without freshman year… freshman year I was out of school with a kidney disease and the school gave me 0’s on all incomplete assignments so my A’s went to C’s/D’s… I’ve received B’s sophomore year and A’s junior and senior year). I don’t want to sacrifice my summer unless I absolutely have to… but I don’t want to apply for summer since my SAT score does match their range and my GPA is not too far out when you exclude freshman year (which has many medical documents to support it). So if thats true that would be extremely ideal. Thanks.

When you apply for early decision you get deferred to regular decision. I have friends that got deferred, so instead of hearing their decision. In December, they have to wait until march. This is done when a student is not qualified to immediately get accepted, but still qualified enough to deserve a rejection. They just want to make sure that you really have what it takes since what you showed to them while applying for early decision was denned as almost good enough. Hopefully you’ve done well for your senior year because that’s what they’re looking for.

Yes, when you apply for Fall, you are automatically reconsidered for Summer if they do not accept you for Summer. The reverse is not the case though (you can’t apply for summer and get reconsidered for fall).

You won’t be outright told you were denied for fall, but they will otherwise accept you for summer. You’ll get a letter that says basically “FSU would like to offer you admission for the summer term” or something similar.

Not necessarily true. They offer hundreds (if not thousands) of students that apply for fall a summer acceptance during the December decision date.
Also keep in mind that December is not really early decision and March is not regular decision: FSU operates on a schedule where December is regular decision and March is essentially a late decision date (you will have a poor housing priority number, will have much less time to decide whether you want to attend FSU, less time to pay any deposits and register for Orientation, etc.)

If you are applying to FSU, it is highly recommended that you apply for the December decision date.
