Florida Tech or NYU Poly?

I know that Polytechnic has just been tied to NYU, but their reviews have revealed nothing good about the school. FIT is no gem either, but it has better reviews out there, and is well-reviewed in the Fiske guide as well. I just don't know what to make of it. Florida is the surroundings I would rather have, but, well... there are non-seniors, parties, clubs, etc. outside of Poly, where as FIT in Melbourne... well... it seems I'll have to drive to Orlando.

Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks,

I’m not saying FIT is a bad school, but I’m 70 miles north of Melbourne and I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone even considering that school. Is there anything specific you’d like to know?

What’s so bad about it and can it be any worse than NYU Poly - at least FIT has a better coed ratio (it’s 70/30… that tells you something about poly)

Well, I specifically said I wasn’t saying it is bad, simply unpopular. Isn’t NYU Poly still a considerably more respectable name than FIT?

I looked at another review site and the popular consensus was Poly was overpriced and a pretty bad school. FIT got mixed reviews.

Poly is not a good school even though it is tied into NYU

^ Poly is a good school. :p

And if you’re a good student, it can be quite affordable as well. It’s also pretty easy to negotiate financial aid.

Umm, let me think of the worst possible aspects of Poly. I guess, the building’s pretty old. And it’s not a “Tier 1” university. But on the flip-side, it’s also all uphill for Poly from here on out. You get a ton of perks from being affiliated with NYU, you live in sunny downtown Brooklyn in this almost brand-new dorm building, the classes are small, and almost no one is stuck up.

Florida Tech, I know absolutely nothing about. Poly gets Floridians all the time though. They like how dynamic New York City is. But I can see why people would choose a Florida school instead - the weather must be awesome, outside of hurricane-season. I’d visit both, if I were you. They seem very different.
