Anyone who studies or has a student studying in the flute studios at JMU, U Del, or UNCG, I would love information on your experiences in the music programs at any of these universities (music performance...flute) thanks!

I too would appreciate info on any of these schools, I applied to all of them and was accepted into music performance for flute at JMU and am waiting to hear from the others!

What school is JMU???

My D is at JMU (James Madison University) as a vocal performance major. While I know nothing about flute performance, I know that one of her friends is a flute performance major and I could check to see what my D’s sense is of her experience. Admission is very competitive and the new music building will be one of the nicest anywhere when it opens this year. I think it is still on schedule.

My D also applied and was accepted at UNCG. She really liked the music school there too. She liked the overall university feeling better at JMU and that is what tipped the scales for her. After she visited JMU, she lost interest in all the other choices. We looked at UDel but ruled it out because she liked the music programs at UNCG and JMU better and UDel was more expensive.

I would be happy to put you in touch with my daughter if you would like. She is a sophomore.

The new JMU concert hall will be ready in July 2010.

JMU is James Madison University. And flute-girl, I got my acceptance from UNCG yesterday.
