I realize there's quite a bit of FLVS threads out there, but I love FLVS so much I wanted to make a new one :D

I'm entering my soph year, and I'm wanting to pick up one or two APs on FLVS during the school year. And now seems like a good time to register for the classes so I can start ASAP.

So, share your experiences with any APs you have taken on there so far, your grades, your work, etc. etc.

AP Micro and AP Macro. Two APs, two As. It makes it so easy to understand and there isn't much work. You have to read an online textbook and complete charts. There are 6 modules with less than 10 assignments for each. Practically guarantted 5s on the test because it makes it so clear.

^Itsn't AP Micro and AP Macro .5 credit each? Also did your school add more points to the class since its AP, therefore your GPA would dramatically increase.

I am thinking of taking AP Art History, or AP Euro? The reason is i didn't have enough space for these classes. But the fact that earning an A in AP classes dramatically raises your weighted GPA is Sweeet. Currently i am taking Geometry Honors. Yup, its actually quite difficult, the honors assignment of coarse. Anyway off i study, good bye.

AP Art History on flvs (which I'm taking right now) is EXTREMELY easy. I have a 97 in the class and 3 weeks ahead. The only thing that bothers me is that my teacher makes it really hard to get 100 on the essays and short responses. Right now, I'm doing Greek art and surprisingly is very hard. She said how this is the hardest section in the whole course. Anyways, I definately recommend art history. It's actually very interesting.

swim2daend, You just made my day, :]
Thanks, i really needed to verify to myself taking AP Art History would be Easy. Also what is the approximate time you would complete the course?
Also are you confident you will earn an A, if yes, wouldn't that dramtically raise your GPA. Also are you going to take the AP exam online or in class, i figure since its an easy 5?

Hi SWIM2DAEND,
Notice your response on AP ART History. Question, you will have to do the AP exam in may for it to be weighted in your GPA..correct?. Will this satisfy your Practical Art requirement for graduation?

That's the point :D All the valedictorians at my school have at least take one or two classes online and end up with pretty high GPA's, but they usually don't take very many AP's online

And has anyone taken AP Comp Sci on FLVS?

Right now, I'm thinking:

First Semester:
AP Micro

Second Semester:
AP Macro

and I want to put it one year long course in there as well.

I think the essays vary among people. I think the essays are a lot easier than normal, 5 paragraph essays. It's only 3 paragraphs long and imo is pretty easy to satisfy the time limit of 30 minutes. I usually finish around 25 minutes into it giving me a good 5 minutes to revise my work. I'm glad I made so many people's day :D. I will say that the essays are probably the hardest part about the course, but I don't think that they're too bad. I watched the webinar twice and completely understood all the important things about each art period. I would definately not take the class if you're NOT good at memorizing. I have such a hard time remembering dates. I need to constantly remember w/ whom the art was made by (i.e. Sumerian, Babylonian, Archiac Greek, Classical Greek, etc.) and then just try and guess the date based on the progress of the work. To SDSM12, it will not bump up my GPA, but it will bump my HPA (which I'm pretty sure is what you meant). In that case, yes it will. To learninginprog, yes I do need to take the AP exam for it to be weighted. However, Florida pays for ALL of my AP exams so it's not as bad (hey, I save about $400). I have NO CLUE if it counts as a practical art. Anyone can get an A in this class if and only if you can put time into it. I would say study at least an hour a day and you should be fine. I occasionally don't, but I'm starting to slip my understanding away so I need to start doing it again. Oh, and there IS a text book that is RECOMMENDED!! It's not required, so if you want to save money to not buy the book take this class. I have the book and the book is HUGE!!!! Hope I was some help!!!

Nah, the long essays were fine with me. The short ones were my problem...The information they give you couldn't use to completely answer the essay...I finally learned halfway through second semester that at lot of the things should be extrapolated and not verbatim from the text.

(I was fine with the memorization and the Greek period was my favorite. Hellenistic sculptures rules! Its the post renaissances that screwed me :()
