Flying out for UK admittance exams?

Hello everyone!

I am in a bit of a dilemma at the moment, and was wondering if anyone here can weigh in.
For certain programs at Oxbridge, applicants need to write exams. However, to write the exams, I need to fly around 5 hours to get to a testing centre, since I live nowhere near one.
The testing occurs in the middle of the week during the school year as well.
Just like most students, I don’t have high hopes of getting into these schools, and half of it is luck. However, if I don’t write the exam, I would virtually have no opportunity or chance to even apply and try.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Is your PRIMARY concern the time or the cost? If it’s the cost, then don’t do it.

@PrimeMeridian
Actually, cost is not a problem at all. For the flight or any schooling, really.
Thank you for replying!

What is the dilemma? As a popular saying goes “you miss a 100% of the chances you do not take”. Apply and do your best on the exams.

It is possible that your school can become a test centre. You need somebody at your school to do the paperwork. We did it- with a pretty grumpy school administrator, which wasn’t much fun- but it takes a while so you need to start right now- but it is possible. Also, sometimes international schools are already testing centres- we did that also. The admin person at our school contacted the admin person at the international school, and they let collegekid take the exam there.
