I took Biology E, Math IIC and Chinese today.
My previous scores for Bio M and Math II were 780 and I decided to retake them since I already registered beforehand. This time I think I did better than 780s, but I know I did dismally on Chinese, like getting 20 plus wrong. Should I cancel all three scores? How much can a 5xx hurt me in colleges like UC/Stanford when they saw they only consider your "top" scores?
Thanks everyone

they won’t hurt if they consider your top scores

just keep it as is. I think you can score choice SAT II’s, just not SAT I’s?

Stanford said send in ALL SATS so I don’t think there is score choice for them.

Bump 10 char

I believe they still only look at your highest scores. So I think you’ll be safe. Stanford only requires 2, Math 2C and another one of your choice. I mean technically it looks as if you didn’t even really need the retake, but either way it looks fine to me.

Personally I would cancel.
Math 2: 780 Biology M: 780
looks better than
Math 2: 780, 800 Biology M: 780, 800 Chinese: 550

Plus I mean still, what if your scores actually went down? I would just cancel to be safe.

why would you retake a 780? lol. and you coulda just said your cd player was broken or some bs like that. too late now i supposed, i would cancel if i were you.

I can tutor you Chinese, because I am Chinese. HAHA:)

DON’T CANCEL! If you’ve read any Malcolm Gladwell books, you would know that the way we process experiences is by remembering the most intense moment and the last moment… The point of my very pretentious intro sentence is that humans are very bad at estimating how they did on exams because we only recall the worst or best part of a test and then how we finished.

But speaking from personal experience, I took the SATs in June, got a 2240 (710 M, 730 CR, 800 W), wasn’t too happy but it was in the range for all my schools so I couldn’t complain. I thought I had aced it, but did not in fact do completely awesome. When I retook in October, I thought I did TERRIBLY. I even sent my old scores to my ED school before the results for oct. were released because I didn’t think I would improve, but do much much worse. Instead, I improved my CR by 50 and my math by 40 and kept the same writing score. So YOU MAY HAVE DONE FINE. But never cancel, especially if you thought you got 2 800’s.

Thanks guys, I’m really glad I didn’t cancel. My Chinese turned out to be 760, I seriously lucked out haha. But it’s still 26th percentile.

CANCEL!!!
Any SAT language is brutal
if you know you did bad, you probably did really bad.
I’d honestly say cancel.

oops, didn’t read the last post
wow. congrats!!
That’s unexpected!!
