My parents never sent in the FAFSA to NYU. I'm bawling right now because I'm so scared that I'm not going to get any money.

I can't believe this. I'm a DEAN Scholar, which means a $25,000 scholarship, but because my parents are so careless and skipped over sending the FAFSA to NYU (only school they missed) I don't think I can go anymore. What is going to happen? I'm so scared.

i’m sure everything will be okay. it’s going to be first come first serve, but you already have 25k, so you already have some good aid… good luck =D

Send it now. If your EFC is low enough (below 4617) you will still be eligible for federal grants such as the Pell, and you are still eligible for the same amount of Stafford loans. From what I have read here on CC, NYU does not give very good need based aid anyway.

We just called… they said to send it today and it’ll be there in a week.

So future NYU applicants… and any college applicant really. Don’t rely on your parents word alone; MAKE SURE that they sent out the FAFSA/CSS to all your schools; stay on top of them! Even if you didn’t even apply to that many schools, gave them a concise checklist/table, and sat next to them while they filled it in online. See that they sent the FAFSA yourself!

^ haha, i filed my own fafsa (and my brothers) =)

i’d like to think filling out/making sure the FAFSA/CSS is sent is mainly the student’s responsibility.

My parents said they’d take care of it and to not worry about it.

But it’s fine now and I’m not worried anymore. Sooo nvm, if I knew how to delete this thread I would.

lol usually i’d think parents take care of anything that has to do w/money…i did mine myself cuz my parents don’t really speak english.
