Focus On Vassar

Hey acceptees....

I'm wondering if any of you are going to the "FOCUS ON VASSAR" open campus program from apr16 to 18th. I'll be going so if any of you will go, please contact me and maybe we can meet each other :)

My son David is going to Vassar on the 17th for the open house. Just look for the guy with the longest hair (Maybe?). We are from New York, and Vassar is one of his two finalists.

My D and I were at the open house. Overall, it was a good experience. One thing I don't understand was why Vassar, with so many important alums, keeps using Lisa Kudrow as the poster child. VC even has her picture on the web page. I have nothing against LK but I don’t think she had done anything that changed the world or anything significant that affected the American culture. I know she has done a TV sitcom but her major at Vassar was Biology, not acting or performance arts. Other schools (esp. the former 7 Sisters) must be laughing very hard because they have many famous alums who are senators, sec. of states, authors, playwrights while Vassar has LK to boast.

Another thing that bugs me is the rubbing off of Tom Hank as a “Vassar parent”. I am sure there are many famous Vassar brother-in-laws, Vassar cousins or Vassar neighbors.

Vassar also has Meryl Streep... maybe they should be using her instead, haha. Vassar also has a lot of very famous senators, authors, etc. Lisa Kudrow is just one of the many famous Vassar alums. The biology point is interesting, because I think that is the exact reason why they use her so much. Vassar tries to illustrate that a liberal arts education can be translated to success in many different areas.
