FOCUS Study Abroad?

I just got back from shadowing the head of the European studies department at WashU for a school project (I live in STL), and went to a party off-campus for "alumni" of his FOCUS which is on Euro studies: France/Germany. The summer following the FOCUS they all go to Europe for 10 days (5 Paris/5 Berlin). So I was wondering:

Do any of Duke's FOCUSes lead to a study abroad experience?

I saw a picture of students in front of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul on the muslim cultures focus page, but I didn't see anythign written about it or other opportunities.

And, I'm trying to decide which FOCUS(es) to apply for. Right now I'm thinking:

Between Europe and Asia (while avoiding the Islam/Ortho class bc of bad prof)

Ethics, Leadership, and Global Citizenship

Muslim Cultures

**I'm an Econ BS and ICS-W.Eur major, I've already studied Islam a lot at Mizzou and a local CC, so I'd really prefer the other two (if they're good).

Any and all input is appreciated! WashU has always reminded me of Duke and after my amazing day there, I'm SOOO excited for Duke :D

Historically some of the Focuses have taken trips during fall break. Muslim Cultures (traditionally in the spring) took trips to Turkey and Cairo. Between Europe and Asia went to Russia. Others have gone to Italy, D.C., etc. Given the current economic climate, though, international travel hasn’t really been feasible because there’s been less institutional funding and students have been able to contribute as much. Some of them may take trips to nearby sites but the odds of a trip are very slim, and I certainly wouldn’t characterize a week-long trip as “study abroad”.
