Folding Bikes

I suppose folding bikes are treated the same as normal bikes in the sense that I won't be able to bring them indoors with me for added security during classes. Either way, what are the best or tried and true methods of proper bike security? (Any types of locks and favorite products in general will be highly considered!)

Thanks!

I heard the best lock you can get is a U lock.

1) get a cheap bike so that there is no point to steal it.
2) get a bike that doesnt have quick release wheels
3) get a u lock

as long as your bike isnt a fully carbon fiber road bike that costs 4 grand you probably dont have to worry too much. Stealing a bike that is u locked to a bike rack is near impossible unless they walk around with a table saw…the only thing they can really grab are the wheels and maybe seat post. For extra security just get a loop of wire or something and run it through both your wheels and then slip the ends of the wire onto your u lock and lock it all up. then everything is secure.

U locks work really well. I had this $35 enormous chain lock (with a water seal lock) that used to use for my bike, when I had one. I recommend that over anything. I got it at the Schwinn store on University Ave. They key with any bike lock is to lock it to the post ensuring that the lock passes through the frame and rear tire (or front tire if rear is not possible). I’ve seen countless bikes stolen because people either buy thick plastic “wire” locks (i don’t know if they’re actually called that) that can be cut easily, or they lock their bike using only a wheel or the frame.
