@GLPDickson good luck to you, too!
Accepted to Princeton University!
@supercilious congrats! Is Princeton your first choice or are you still on planning on applying to that whole list?
@penngirlpending Princeton is my first choice, but I also really like Yale and my parents want me to apply to Harvard; those schools aside, I’m withdrawing all my apps besides Vandy and WUSTL (where I applied for merit scholarships).
Congratulations @supercilious !
@shawnspencer thank you!
Congratulations @supercilious ! Great thread too, lot of insight.
Accepted to UVa, UMich, and UNC Chapel Hill!
Congratulations. May I ask, what put Princeton ahead of HY on your list?
Congratulations !
@mohammadmohd18: thanks! It was pretty arbitrary, actually. I was dazzled by the quality of Princeton’s creative writing faculty, the Lewis Center for the Arts, its gorgeous campus. Harvard is pretty close to where I live, so it’s never had the same allure; I love Yale (Dwight Hall, residential colleges, amazing student publications), but it hasn’t taken anyone from my school in years.
@MYOS1634 thanks
I’m a fan of how informed you are on each of those. I enjoy this entire thread: wherever you end up going, remember to enjoy every minute of it–these are all world-class schools!
Hey @supercilious , I’m a current Princeton student taking Latin and creative writing classes; I’m considering an English concentration with a creative writing certificate or a History concentration. Both the classics and creative writing departments are EPIC. Congrats on your acceptance, and if you have any questions about the departments let me know!
Named an Echols Scholar!
Wow, congratulations!
@MYOS1634 thanks
Now you are awesome safeties I’m very happy for you. This is fantastic, truly. Fingers crossed for the rest of your decisions, but no matter what, you’re covered
@supercilious Would YoungArts selection pave the way for you to be a U.S. Presidential Scholar in Arts? Is that why it hurt so much?
@QuakerinJayhawk yeah, if you’re a YoungArts finalist, there’s a possibility of being designated a US Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Mainly, though, I was just disappointed (although not entirely surprised) I wasn’t recognized.
