Follow Up Internship Application?

So, I've been advised to follow up on internship applications under the guise of making sure your application materials were received, and then you go on to reaffirm your desire and interest in the internship, etc... Well, what if I know my application was received and looked at already? I know they were received and looked at to a certain degree, because I got a phone call last week asking me for some extra info (which was originally included, but I wasn't going to make an issue out of it, of course) Should I still follow up? If so, how? Also it may be worth noting that this organization specifically discourages phone calls, so I was thinking of e-mailing, if anything.

No, do not contact them unless you actually have something important to say. They already know you’re interested, and you run the risk of annoying them.

Did they tell you when they’ll get back to you? If not, I’d wait about a week and then email to ask when you can expect to hear back, and go from there.

Have you had an interview you yet. Once you complete one if necessary, send them a thank you note which serves to remind them your an applicant and is typical of an applicant . You can look up ho to write one.
