Follow up visit with Thank You.......

My daughter and I are debating if it's more appropriate to send thank you notes by mail or email. We visited a couple of schools last week and were lucky to be escorted through one building by an associate dean since school was not in session and no tours were offered through admissions. We just wandered through open buildings and were offered a mini tour of one building by a woman. We also met a head of a department by chance at another college who offered my daughter to send him a photography portfolio. We were given email addresses, but I'm wondering if it's more appropriate to go the extra mile and send a note card.

Thanks...

handwritten note.

Both are fine since it is proper etiquette.

I like e-mails for the following reasons:
1. If they keep a computer file on candidates it is easily saved
2. It might be conducive to a reply from the recipient and may say feel free to contact me any time.

A handwritten note is nicer, but an e-mail is more likely to get a reply.

I think that it's best to send a handwritten note. That can easily be copied and put into her file. It also seems more sincere, thoughtful and professional.
