Fondness for School

Hi there, which school has the most dynamic and loyal student body?

This school, whether in your opinion, with your own experiences, or based on some statistics, would be a vibrant community where its students love and enjoy their college life, take pride in their school, support school events (sports/concerts/plays...), and many other aspects you think that will indicate the students' fondness for their school. Please list the school and your reason for choosing it.

Any comment would be appreciated =)

To me, that definition sounds like Texas A&M. They take pride in pretty much everything they do, and have the "work hard, play hard" type of attitude.

More than likely students will pick their own school, but if I had to choose I would choose Notre Dame. Of course, my opinion is biased.

the big southern state schools where the towns shut down for football games.

USC. the definition of "work hard, play hard" and the enthusiasm on campus is incredible

So Big Sports school, in general?

How about Ivies and LACs? Or do they just "work hard?"

Btw, thanks for all the reply above =)

sometimes alumni giving rates can be useful information- if you like your school, you might be more inclined to donate

I'm obviously biased, but Dartmouth certainly seemed to fit that description when I visited last week. :D

Any school with a successful football team.

University of __________ - the state's flagship school

Also add any non commuter school that plays in a top athletic conference (Pac 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC, etc)

If you go by alumni giving rates - a good indicator of loyalty to the school - it's Princeton.

In the sense of "everyone going to the football game and partying", definitely a big football/athletic school. USC and Texas A&M were both mentioned - though I think the "work hard" in the descriptions there might be a point of view matter. ;)

USC parties hard, but does not work hard.

I think people at many Ivies and LACs love their school, though they don't necissarly show it by turning out for football games. At Wes, there are no single events that draw everyone together, but many, many people love their school...people just choose to express it in different ways.

I am going to cast yet another vote for "my own school." Carleton is #1 in alumni giving, beating out other LACs and Ivies alike. Plus, ask any Carl to list the 5 best things about the school and you will get a list of 10 or more things. Ask the same kid about the 5 worst things, and you will likely get blank looks and wrinkled foreheads after 1-2 examples.

Go to Ann Arbor during a U-M vs OSU game.

Thanks guys! You all seem to love your school. Have fun =)

Anyone else wants to share their love for school? Feel free to list your school name, along with the reason.

ok, i realize this thread is very old, but...

please, that's a disgusting statement...i'm not offended by much at all, but i'm definitely offended by that. especially after my explaining how things are at USC in another thread. simply put, i go to USC and you don't...i worked my ass off, as did most of the people around me. you have NO idea what you're talking about.

Texas A&M University
it's Aggie cult!
