Do we have to use Times New Roman on essays we submit to colleges?

Just use a standard font that’s easy to read.

For the love of God, please don’t use Comic Sans…

Wingdings FTW!

Times new Roman - size 10…is the preferred font used
so yes i recommend using Times new roman

I use 12 point

i usually use cambria

times ftw

I sometimes use Arial

lol no comic sans haha. I prefer Palatino Linotype :)

Use Comic Sans, it looks really professional!

Just use Times New Roman, Garamond, something like that.

Garamond 12. Very professional and ‘scholarly’, even more than Times, yet easy to read (not too cluttered, due to the relatively large size).

Edit: for filling out forms though, use san-serifs (Arial is best) as they put the least visual strain to the poor adcom officers who have to wade through them. However, stick with serif (Garamond) for essays for the ‘authentic’ feel.

I’ve always hated Times New Roman.

I just used Calibri size 11 because it was default on Word 2007.

It’s simple and easy to read, so I didn’t see a problem with it.
