Food Allergy Management and selection of college

Does anyone have any specific experience- positive or negative with a son or daughter recently managing anaphylactic food allergies on a US college campus?

Any particular knowledge of life with food allergies at these colleges would be especially welcome: Brown, Chapman, GW, Tufts, Occidental… But all good outcomes or horror stories are welcome.
Thank you!

My younger D has anaphylactic food allergies and did go to ER once for that, but she is still in high school. When we visited colleges with D1 a couple years ago, we did ask about this question at each college just for our future reference. Some schools have the allergen information of each dish posted on the website and in the dining hall. Sorry that we did not visit any school on your list. At one of the post-admission visit, a student with multiple severe food allergy was introducing the dining halls and said she had no problem at all as she could find the information and even made specific request when necessary.

Colleges have made so much progress on this front. Brown was great even 9 years ago when my son went (allergy to shrimp, lobster, crab w/anaphylaxis). My daughter has diabetes, celiac and one food allergy. In both cases, we made an appointment with dining services and ended up with the chef and head of dining services and someone else. Not only are there ways to stay safe but alternative foods were offered and communication via e-mail about menus and ingredients. You can visit the dining halls to observe. But if things aren’t to your liking of course you have a legal right to ask for changes. i would not let this issue affect the choice of schools!!

I am a new member do not sure if I can post this link. In this article on managing food allergies in a campus setting Brown is mentioned.
