I noticed that there are threads on food, social scene, etc. for Andover, but not Exeter.
What's the food like at Exeter? I went there for the Summer Session, and the food was kind of meh, so I ate eggo waffles a lot of the time. I've heard its better during the school year, but how so? Like what is there to eat, is it just the Elm Street Dining Hall, and is it edible..
Also, is the dining hall open other than meal times, or do you have to go to the grill?

bump…

Okay, so I’ve only eaten there on Parent’s Week-end, which my kid said was sort of a “Greatest Hits” of Exeter food, but here’s what I know…

There’s always a pretty extensive soup/salad bar with lots of choices, and a cereal bar, but I assume they had those at summer school? There’s a panini grill at one or both dining halls to make your own sandwiches. Selzer and juice along with milk, tea, etc. I thought the main entrees were all quite good and my kidlikes to call me on his way to d-hall and say things like, “Yes! Chocolate cake again!” at breakfast time (!). One or the other dhall is open for most of the day, so you really only have to go to the Girill if you get in late from an athletic event. The main food lines aren’t open all day, but I think you can go in after sports practice or class and grab a sandwich or a bowl of cereal or some fruit. The daily menus are posted on the website–and check out the photos from jazz brunch to see an amazing meal.

All in all, I don’t hear complaints about the food from my kid. Maybe there’s just more variety during the regular school year?

The food is about the same as it is at summer school. There is almost always some dining hall open during the day, but between meals they will just have fruit and cereal and juice and usually some dessert.

I went for revisit day, and the food was pretty good! Plenty of choices.
