<p>I was wondering if food at ND is served on a cafeteria, buffet style way or an individual item purchase basis or simply go to a restaurant and eat.</p>
<p>I hear the food is amazing by the way.</p>
<p>I ate at the South Dining Hall twice when I visited Notre Dame, and first let me say how good the food honestly was. I believe Notre Dame ranks twelfth in the princeton review for their cafeteria. The dining hall was buffet style with a very wide selection; I think everyone could find something for they like.</p>
<p>More on this later (remind me but I am late for class) but the food here is great and we have a huge selection. As a transfer I know what other colleges serve and this is fantastic in comparison, trust me!</p>
<p>NDHopefull is right- I have also eaten twice at South Dining Hall- the food really is excellent and there is a very large selection.</p>
<p>I don't know how you guys could AFFORD to eat in South twice, it is really expensive unless you are a student! UGH! Anyways, there is a great diversity of food and there is almost always something that is good everyday and also something for everyone. Also, unlike Creighton (where I attended before ND) the food rarely ever makes me sick (maybe once a semester or year) whereas at Creighton it truly was a weekly thing. Let me tell you, it makes a huge difference...I failed at test at Creighton because I got sick in the middle due to dining hall food.</p>
<p>Not only is the food edible and safe but it is also very good for how dining halls go. I have really been very impressed by it. The only problem is our meal plans are a bit more expensive than some other schools but trust me, it is worth it! Again, being sick due to the food is awful! At Creighton I had to look for what would not make me sick and that is how I made my selection, no joke! Here I have to only take one plate or I will eat way too much!</p>

<p>Well, the office of admissions gave my father and me discount passes, which made the price for a meal pretty reasonable. I think it was like 7 dollars, nothing more than what I would have spent somewhere else.</p>
<p>Wait...at boarding high school, see the way it worked was we simply paid like 2-3000 dollars for the whole year for Food and thats it. I just ate came 3 times a day for my three square meals for the whole year. Each meal (Bfast, Lunch, DInner) had like 100 items each (exaggerating)... and it was absolutely amazing. Basically it was just a huge cafeteria housing all students and faculty. </p>
<p>So what Im asking is:</p>
<p>1.) I dont get this South DIning hall thing...I am assuming there is a North Dining Hall, and East dining hall, etcc.... What does this mean</p>
<p>2.) Whats the cost of FOOD?</p>
<p>3.) Is it basically Buffet style food?</p>
<p>4.) Do you have like a MEAL CARD where it gets punched for every meal you eat or can you come back and forth etc...??</p>

<li>There are two dining halls at Notre Dame; South Dining Hall and North Dining Hall (creative, I know). It is just the name, that is all.</li>
<li>You get 14 (or 21) meals a week plus bonus points so you can work it pretty well. However, the actual meal plan for the semester is expensive and I think it breaks down to 8 bucks a meal. It is buffet all you can eat style.</li>

<li>You swipe your student ID and it keeps track. You can only have one meal per period meaning that I could only eat one breakfast on Wednesday, not two, but it works pretty well.</li>
