Food at UCI?

Food is my best friend, so I need to know how the food is. Please let me know! :)

Sorry if there's already a thread on this. Someome please link me if there is.

I don't know much about the dorm food, but I'd imagine it's like the dorm food at any college. I've been to the campus a couple times and they've got some good places right around it. On campus there's a Starbucks and a couple other little places; however, with the new Student Center they should have some more options. Across the street at University Center there's an In-N-Out, Taco Bell/KFC, a good mexican place, pizza, trader joes, lees sandwiches. So I'd say it's a good variety.

In n out and trader joes....SOLD!

There's a good vegetarian place too, next to the theaters. Forgot the name. The barbecue "chicken" sandwich is good.

anyone know what new food they will have with the student center reopening?

The food looked pretty good on my visit. They have buffet-style cafeterias as well as regular sandwich shops. University Center across the street is great too. Jack in the Box, In N out, and Trader Joes (I think?).

You can check out the menu on the uci.edu website. It's under "dining".

Foooooooood.

The food is really going to feel the same anywhere you go - crap after awhile. You'll miss dorm food after freshman year though. There are voluntary meal plans for people who don't dorm though. They carry over quarters. I've been to UCD commons about 5+ times and I must say UCI's is better.

How's the vegetarian menu choices? :)

Hope I don't get sick of the food quick

Commons are terrible for vegetarians imo. Well actually I have a lot of vegan friends and they seriously die daily. I think vegetarians can handle.

But I think they're improving the vegetarian menu because they got so many complains last year

Dorm food is utter crap. I definitely won't miss it after this year, and I don't know any upperclassmen that do. But I think that's to be expected. When the student center opens there will be a good number of options on/near campus. Right now there are still a good number of stands and small cafe places on campus that serve good food.

good news that uci food is better than davis. :)

the veggie place the person was talking about is Veggie Grill.. its right next to trader joes

and yeah.. dorm food for me was great in the very beginning and it slowly declined.. by the end of fall qtr. i was so bitter and angry with pippin. (brandywine was lunch so it wasn't as big of a deal)

winter qtr, for some reason i thought they really improved somehow.. cause when we got back from break the food was a lot better .. maybe cause we hadn't had it in a while. so for winter break it was decent.

and now, i actually haven't eaten @ pippin that much yet. but its not too bad if the exhibition stations are open.

i am gonna miss it next year though. i dont hate it as much as some of the other people do..

ahh, if you are not a picky eater, the food here is fine. i am a very poor student so the dorm food here is like a fawken buffet.
