Where is a good place to eat around Harvard, I'm visiting soon?

There is no dearth of eating places to suit every budget. Among the more pricey:

Rialto in the Charles Hotel.
The Harvest, off Brattle Street
Legal Seafood in Charles Hotel.
Tamarind Bay on JFK (Indian)
Spice on Dunster or Elliott (Thai)
Penang in the Galleria (Malaysian)
Sandrine on Holyoke (French)
Upstairs on the Square.
Border Cafe (Mexican)

If you like seafood try Legal Seafood.

If you want relatively cheap, yet excellent, Chinese food, then go to Yenching. I can't remember which street it is but you could probably look it up online. I think if you look at a map of harvard yard, it is immediately south of the main yard if you exit out of one of those south gates and you keep walking to the left (even though it would be east on the map). It is really worth the search. Excellent, excellent food.

The MIT admissions blog has a post on this, with responses.

Yenching is on Mass Ave. Eh, I wouldn't call it excellent. Six out of ten.

I'd recommend Algiers Coffee House. A little more expensive than I'd like, but the food is delicious. Penang is decent. Also, Cafe of India's pretty good.

If you want desert, go to Burdick's.

There's a really good Indian restaurant across the street from the Charles Hotel.. I wish I remembered the name. Anyway, there are a bunch of newspaper clippings in the window extolling its virtues, lol. So you'll know it when you see it :P My mom and I were jetlagged and decided to get a late-night snack, and even though it was 10 pm the place was packed. Frickin good Indian food :)

if you want dessert, go to finale!

Boston Market? Do they have those in Boston? That would be funny if they did.

Is cafe of india on the second floor of a building? I had indian food twice, at two different places, during my visit, and one was better and cheaper than the other

They do have it in Boston.

I also recommend legal seafood...mmmmmmmmm!

Tanjore? That's where it used to be, anyway. The lamb with apricots is one of the best things I ever ate, hands down.

For cheap and good, Bartley's Burger Cottage was always one of my favorites.

the Kong!!!!

hahahaha. At your own risk.

Bartley's (on Mass Ave) is essential, although I'm not sure I'd call it cheap (maybe "boston-cheap" but $9 for a burger and fries...). I recommend the apple pie milkshake!

b. good on Dunster is another place to check out for burgers.

I recommend Pinnochio's pizza... 2 slices of amazing sicilian for $3.95 (try the spinach + the tomato basil!). It's on Winthrop street, just off of JFK.
