So i applied for UC Davis’s food science major because i thought it sounds very interesting and i could probably enjoy learning about it. however, i don’t really know anything about food science. do people who apply for food science usually have some type of basic background in this major?are they usually the ones who already have some sort of vague direction of where they will go with the major? I know Davis is well known for its food science program, but it seems that not a lot of people are familiar with this major(but i could be wrong, it’s just everyone around me doesn’t know about this major that well), so are there a lot of people in this major or just not as much as the average major would have? i’m just worried that there won’t be a lot of people who are not familiar with food science and I’ll be the only clueless one in the major.

also, i haven’t taken any biology since highschool freshman year, but i have taken chem ap and am taking physics ap (but i’m sort of struggling in that class with a high C, but might get a B by the end of the year -_-) oh but i still took the sat biology test and got a decent score of 720. am i prepared to take this course even if i don’t have much of a biology background? i only remember the basics from freshman year.

one last thing, what kind of job can a bachelor degree in food science get me? and what kind of job will a master or PHD get me? Are graduate degrees usually just for research or teaching? is it difficult to find a job with just a bachelor degree?

Sorry in advance that this post might seem a bit overwhelming!
