Food while in college?

ramen recipes

:)

alphaflight

we have takeout as well... some people eat in the cafeteria, and then fill a container (or 2) with food to take with them.

im a vegiterian so veggies, fruits, and those veggieburgers and veggiewhatevers.....cheap and healthy and tasty

But vegeterian meat imitation and vegeterian cheeses (those without rennet) are pricy. It's better to buy less processed stuff, and the web is full of simple and easy vegetarian recipes so you can make your own, better tasting veggieburgers (say).

hmmm.......I'm gonna try that it sounds good

can you cook your own food in the dorms?

some reshalls have kitchens, others don't. but to be honest, you likely won't have much time anyways...or even if you did, you won't want to spend it cooking;).

It depends on individual school policy, and may even depend on the type of dorm (suite with a kitchenette area; traditional dorm with a kitchen area only on a designated floor; maybe a mini-fridge and microwave allowed in your room).

Many colleges frown upon cooking in your room for health and safety reasons. You really need to check the college website and look at what type of rooms are available to freshmen, what can you bring, what can't you bring.

What colleges are on your short list?

you almost definitely can't cook in your room, because it's a fire hazard. Some dorms do have kitchens though (all the ones at my school do)

Instant oatmeal for breakfast when you are too lazy to go out (I'm eating it right now as a matter of fact).

Everyone I know steals dining hall food. 6 Packs of bagels, Nalgene bottles of drinks, cereal in Ziplock bags, lots of fruit, grilled cheese, crackers, cheese, cookies, whatever.

ok i think cooking is off hte list...i'll just go with frozen meals from safeway or something.

ramen, ramen, ramen
