I visited Binghamton over Spring break so all the food places were closed. I never got to taste anything, but I heard good things about the quality of the food from the tour guide. I wanted to talk to a current student and ask about their favorite place to eat. How readily available are healthy/organic options? Is there anyplace on campus to get fresh fruit? Juice or smoothie bar? I'm just curious. I know I can figure all this stuff out when I get there.

I visited a bunch of colleges and it seemed like Binghamton had the best meal place setup, the way you're not limited to a certain number of meals per day or week. Does anyone have a problem with the system? Tips?

Thanks in advance! I'd just like to get a feel for the place before I start!

The food in general is good. There are ‘generic’ foods, such as chicken fingers, cheeseburgers, etc, and then there is a daily breakfast, lunch and dinner menu that is different from day to day. The dining halls have different specialties (Thai Food in Hinman, Asian in Mountainview, etc.). There are salad bars in every dining hall and fresh fruit also. Moreover, there are healthy options included in the daily menus. I believe Hinman and Dickinson have smoothies as well as the night owls.

Good. I was hoping to avoid stuff like chicken fingers/cheeseburgers because that’s not really what I eat normally. If I’m gonna have fast food, it’s gonna be a relatively healthy burrito from Chipotle, not a burger from McDonalds. I’m glad there will be a lot of variety as well. Thanks for the info.
