two words: berkeley bowl. shop there for cheap, amazing produce and cook (at least some) of your own meals. i never got a meal plan (albiet, i did not live in dorms and had a kitchen) and did just fine. plenty of grocery stores around, healthy eat-out options, you’ll be fine!

Those are just the dining commons. I only go there for dinner - usually have breakfast in my dorm (granola bar/banana/juice) and grab a wrap at qualcomm or sandwich at GBC for lunch. You can make sandwiches in the DCs. I know crossroads has a sandwich bar thing or something, and there’s always cereal and salad.

Does anyone know about the ultimate meal plan option for Berkeley? What does it mean by “one dining hall swipe per meal period?” Like, I go in once for breakfast, and eat everything i want?

The food is as unhealthy or healthy as you make it.
If you want to eat unhealthily, there’s nothing to stop you from gorging on the pizza.
If you want to eat healthily, there’s nothing to stop you from… not gorging on the pizza.

Soda, fries, pizzas, and fried stuff are always available. You need to figure out how you’ll balance your meal. I was so unhealthy my first semester aka got fries and soda every day… curse those waffle fries!!! Either way, my second semester was a bit better: stopped drinking soda and went for water or soda water + orange juice (mhmmm), one bowl of salad every time I go there (I slowly stopped this near the end of the year lol), and tried to get fries/pizzas every now and then. It’s very tempting when most of the other food suck, but you must stay strong!!!
