food

Well pretty sure I'm going to be starving by the first hour. So I need FOOD for the SAT.

I plan on bringing:

-Granola Bars
-Graham Crackers
-Trail Mix (Cranberries, Raisins, peanuts, cashews)
-Beef jerky?
-A sandwich
-Bananas (if there is any. Hopefully I'll get some before the test)
-Water
-Candy (Starburst?)
-Gum?

That's quite a list. But I just don't think any of those are "brain food". As in, keep me concentrated. What are some examples? I know eggs are one. But I can't just bring an egg.. Cuz I don't like cold eggs O__o

HELP!

I know that this isn’t really going to dampen your hunger, but I’ve heard that mints are supposed to help your concentration. You could bring some of those to suck on during the breaks. Tuna is also considered a “brain food”- how about a tuna fish sandwich?

I only ended up bringing crackers and 2 granola bars, which I didn’t even finish because our proctor would call us in from break early :P

But anyway. Aside from fish, I’ve also heard that blueberries, avocadoes, tomatoes, and broccoli are good brain foods; maybe bring/include some of those in your sandwich? And so are nuts, which means that trail mix you plan on bringing is a great idea!

I’m not too sure about the candy though…eat it in moderation, or you might get a sugar-high and consequent crash.

That’s what I was worried about. How can I bring fruits? It might get mushy, not to mention extremely messy at times.

I can’t eat fish on account for the highly allergic factor. :(

Does tic tac work? I’ll buy a pack! :)

I suppose that a tic-tac would do the trick. As far as I know, it is the aroma of mint that helps concentration. So anything from mint gum/candy to actual mint leaves would help your concentration.

I would think the opposite? But I’ll try that out. Gotta get some gum now!

I brought 5 tangerines. They provided just enough sugar and water but I wasn’t needing to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes and I wasn’t pulsating my foot like a tuning fork.

GOOD IDEA!

I’m bringing some oranges… :D

I know people who have brought caffeine pills :P

wooooow… a thread about food… that’s not sth you see everyday on cc… lol

seriously people?! Just get whatever YOU LIKE… whatever makes YOU HAPPY, COMFY, AND ENERGIZED! you won’t have time for a 5 star menu of your choice either way… whatever it is you end up getting, you’ll find yourself devouring it just to get sth in your system to concentrate… Just as long s it ain’t full of fat… it’s fine! what you should make a fuss about is your CALCULATOR!

oh yeeah PENCILS BRO!
make sure you save whatever lovely food you want as a treat! XD

I literally just brought a pack of 5 gum rain flavor. My jaw was kind of sore at the end of the test, as I got a new stick every break and was chewing gum nonstop (and quite vigorously) for ~5 hours, but I feel as though it kept me in the zone, and it probably helped my score to some degree.

Bring a roasted duck on a platter.

It’ll make the people around you jealous and drooling while taking the test.

(Ok I brought no food to my SAT but my imaginary tacos were delish.)
