Food

is the dorm food/ campus food good at USC?

if i don't get oncampus housing i might still get a mealplan if its good because im lazy and i don't know how to cook unless the food is terrible.

Community 50 Plan is really good...i'd recommend that
great thing is, if you run out, you can buy it again, allows most flexibility along with a $100 dining dollars

considering buying one meal is around 10 bucks, its worth it

i cooked myself a lot last year and find this a better way to grab a meal, less dishes, etc.

Food BTW, on campus is really good...IMO

I just use discretionary, so I'm not confined to a meal plan.

Using discretionary for dining hall visits isn't the most economical. I believe it's like a $12 charge (atleast for dinner) when you "swipe in" using discretionary funds. The Community 50 Plan described above comes out to $8 per meal that can be used anytime at EVK or Parkside. I find it pretty flexible- I try to cook some of the time, but when I'm hungry for a lot of food and don't want to cook, going to Parkside is nice.

I think the food at USC is pretty good. I think Parkside Restaurant is much better than Everybody's Kitchen, though EVK is still popular because it’s much closer for most students.

USC's other offerings aren't always the healthiest. There are plenty of opportunities to indulge given the on-campus Carl's Jr and the selection of junk food that dominates many of the smaller cafes and coffee carts.

I hardly go to the dining halls on campus (EVK and Parkside) for just that reason. I spend around $7 a meal at other places around campus such as Cafe 84, Downstairs Commons, Wolfgang Puck's, Law School Cafe, Tutor Hall Cafe.

I'd say it's easier to over-indulge at a dining hall because it's a one-price thing. Watching my discretionary account slowly ebb away has made me more conscious about what I eat and how much food I buy.

TroGro has awesome sandwiches, and their sushi's actually not that bad. And of course Commons is always recommended...

cool, seems like i will get some sort of meals even if i don't get oncampus housing.

i love EVK... maybe im just weird, lol

EVK sucks...except for Chicken Nugget Tuesdays...Parkside is good for the first few weeks, and then it gets repetitive.

^ yeah i agree. EVK's ok, but its not that great... And also if you live in dorms, you can only have cardinal cardinal fast pass or trojan (not 50 meal plan thing) and trojan is like 600 dollars more expensive than the other.
