Football Exposure Camps - Academic Schools

Hoping to find out which colleges sponsor football camps this summer where there are coaches from numerous academic schools (both d1 and d3) in attendance. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Ivy, Patriot League, etc. and D3's. ds has a 30 composite ACT.

ds has been invited to some one day camps but it would be nice to get more exposure since attendance at camps will likely involve significant travel.

NE Elite is a good one covering the schools you are interested in. …but it’s this coming week, and registrations may be full?

maryoc, thanks for the suggestion. that camp looks like it would have been a good opportunity but the date won’t work. thanks again !

If there is anyway possible, try to make that date work. NE Elite is the best camp with multiple coaches especially academic schools. Other than that, the best bet is to see which coaches are attending which other schools camps. If there is a specific school you are interested in, see if he is attending different camps. check facebook to see if the football team for the school has a facebook page. I know some schools list where their coaches are attending.

If you havent made it to any of the Ivy camps these last 4 days and you don’t go to new england elite you’re going to be in a bad position. You’re next best chances are columbia and princetons camps, but that’s not nearly as useful as if you can make it to ne elite or if you could’ve made it to harvard or yale

thanks all for the suggestions and comments. we have made some progress in finding some other options so that is encouraging. we’ll keep moving forward. along with getting out to camps and college visits this summer, ds will need to get started on applications. things are looking up and progress is being made.

We live in Texas and are thinking about the New England Elite camp in 2012 for a 2013 grad who will have good test scores (but probably mediocre grades). Based on what I’ve read, NEE seems to be the elite camp. What camps are in the next tier? I think we’d rather go to a camp that has more than one school represented. All ideas are appreciated.

Remember that the Camps aren’t going to work by themselves. Make sure you contact the coaches before hand via e-mail, website forms and phone to get the conversation going BEFORE the Camps.

At NE Elite for example there must be 300 kids. The coaches can’t watch them all and it seemed like most coaches had a list of 30-40 kids they were looking for. My guess is those were kids they had been in touch with PRIOR to the camp.

Good luck!

While i agree with four more years, and think that the widest net should be cast as far as schools go, I think coaches come to camps knowing what position players they are looking for, as opposed to which player. I also think at camps like NE elite they might be looking for the kid who wasnt on their radar. The kids they have already identified, will be invited to their own camp. A large pool like NE elite gives coaches a chance to see kids they mmight have missed. so just know that a great showing at NE Elite, could lead to more recruiting interest. I know a few kids who this happened to specifically at NE elite. However, if a school is of special interest, let them know, and send them your info, and make sure you follow up with either a call (prefered) or email simply to make sure it was recieved. some dont have the best filing systems and things get lost.

The New England Elite Camp is the best camp for kids seeking high academic schools (IVY, Patriot, NESCAC, ACC, etc. Coach Papas runs the camps and puts the prospects in the best possible light. Bentley College has some of the very best athletic facilities in New England. It has a much better turnout of college coaches and coach Papas organizes the camp so there can be a lot of interaction between the players and coaches. The camp has become extremely popular with kids all over the Northeast showing up. Another great camp is the “Lauren First and Goal” Camp at Lafayette.

New England Elite is likely the best multi-school camp if you are looking for academic colleges. It is heavily attended by the NESCAC and D3 coaches, and many head coaches.
The individual Ivy camps are also attended by many NESCAC and other D3 coaches.
My suggestion would be to try really hard to work out the dates for NE Elite, and also figure out which schools you are most interested in and find out which Ivy camps they will have coaches attending.
I agree with the posting about getting your tape and other info into the hands of the coaches BEFORE the camps. Unless your child is a superstar, it will be very difficult to attract attention at these camps without having first made contact.
I disagree that coaches are looking for position players. I believe coaches are mostly looking for athletes. I read a statistic somewhere that more than half of Ivy and D3 football players end up playing a different position in college than they played in high school.
And it’s not too late, but will be in a couple of weeks. NE Elite starts July 5, and all the Ivies still have camps open. Most important, however, would be to send out those emails and information to coaches NOW!
Best of luck!
