I am probably the only parent on here who has not purchased football tickets for Parents’ Weekend. Is there a particular place where we will need to sit? Assuming that my cadet will be sitting someplace other than with us, I will need four tickets. Does anyone have any advice on where to sit and what kind of tickets to buy?

we purchased out tickets through our parent's club. I think that most parent's clubs have blocks of tickets, otherwise you can go to the academy web site to the athletic link and purchase there

I just called this morning about football tickets. If I can recall correctly all the basics or should I say 4 year cadets, will be sitting in the same section. I think he said L-18 thru L-20 something like that. These tickets are non-refundable. I'm choosing to wait till after basic is over to purchase them. We are not huge football fans so the best seat is not that big of a deal. Sitting as close to my Cadet is. Good luck

Are you going to the tailgate party before the game? The parents association of San Diego, Orange and LA Counties are hosting a party before the game. Being a member of a parents association has added benefits too.

Yes- Like I said, I will feel more confident about making secure plans once my daughter completes basic. I did however make plane reservations for pw and also a hotel. I just don't like to jump the gun to much. A medical turnback can happen in an instant. Just want to make it through Jacks.

Yes, making it through Jack's is the big thing right now. Maybe I should wait, but I don't even want to think about that issue. I just sent my cadet a Hoops and Yoyo talking card. They will probably take it away from him but it should at least bring him a smile there during these hard days.

How do you make contact with parents' associations? Do they have them all over the country?

Okay, I'm back - still thinking that I need to get our tickets. So are only the the cadets sitting in L18-L20 or is it open to others? Is that where we would want to sit or in a section close to it like L-17 or L-21? I am totally void of information in this area - trying to think of a nice synonym for "ignorant." / : Any help is appreciated.

Hi patriotmom - here is a link to the CO parent's club site that lists all the sites for the USAFA Parent Clubs all over the country. See if there is one in your state or area. You can check with them to see if they reserved a block of tickets and if any are left over. Our NC parents club had a block of tickets, but the last date to purchase was a week or so ago.

I hope this will help some.
Also, we were told that ONLY the firsties were allowed to sit with their families. All the other cadets have to sit in the cadet area and no one else can sit there but cadets.

patriotmom:
Only cadets sit in sections L-18 thru 20.

The "coveted" seats for parents seem to be in section L-21 and M-21. These are sections next to the cadets and are on about the 40 yard line. These sections are also "premier" seating sections and cost $36/per ticket plus the extra expenses of $2.50/per ticket handling fee and either $7.00 flat fee to mail tickets to you (they arrive in August) or $10 flat fee to pick them up at "will call" the day of the game. Keep in mind this is a line you have to stand in before you get to the security line.

This year is different than in years past as the football team will be stationed across the field from the cadets under the press boxes rather than on the same side as the cadets. The new coach wanted the team moved to the other side of the stadium. I guess the team will now be looking across the field at the sea of blue (all the cadets and parents who sit on the cadet side.) :) Not a bad view for them!

Anyway, the talk in parent groups was that most parents wanted to sit as close to cadets as possible regardless of where the football team was placed. 4 Digs and 3 Digs must sit in the cadet seating for the entire game (or 95% of it). So, this is where a lot of parent groups have chosen to sit and purchased seating here on this side of the stadium and specifically these two sections.

I would suggest you consider purchasing tickets soon. Ticket purchases for parents of cadets opened up June 18. You may have better luck getting closer to cadets, if that is what you want, by calling the ticket office rather than ordering online.

A seating section chart is online as well as the phone number to call.

You guys and gals are all great. I know I ask a lot of questions. Thanks for answering with so much useful information. I will get right on it.
