Have any of you guys signed up for football season tickets yet?

On the site there's something about Seating Groups. It also said that "new students" can't sit with upperclassmen so as a junior transfer I don't know if I'm allowed to sit with my friends from high school who are going to be juniors. Besides, I think most of them probably sit with their frats/sororities anyway. Could some of you enlighten me/us about the whole seating arrangement...?

Also, how many students go to away football games at MSU (or OSU next year)?

I don't get it. Just like in school, I never get an answer (or a good answer) to my questions.

Some kids go to away games, but a lot of it is cost prohibitive. If you've held tickets for a number of years and get lucky in the lottery you might be able to buy some away tickets through the school at face value, but those are few and far between so going to away games entails paying a scalper (plus travel etc). Anyways, that is just the games in "high demand" if you want to go to a lesser away game you can just march up to the ticket office and drop a few bucks.

I went to the ND game at ND last year and it was a great time and a great road trip w/ my buddies (aside from that outcome :()

Seating is based on how many years you've had tickets. You could join a group w/ your friends, but tickets are assigned on the lowest priority person in a group (in this case, you) so instead of getting good junior (three years worth of ticketholding) tickets, they would be up with the first year ticket holders.

Also important is group size. If you have a group any bigger than 3-5 you're going to be in the nose bleeds.

Also relevant is the fact that none of this is relevant (aside from the very low parts/great seats) all the students just get there and fill out the student section as they arrive. I don't think I sat within 30 rows of my assigned seat once. You have to enter the correct gate (the one that's on your ticket), but beyond that everyone just sits w/ their friends (and sneak their friends into the studnet section - it can get packed in there, but it's a great time).

Thanks for the reply - glad that you're still at UMich. Now I can just order the tickets without concern to seating arrangements. The OSU game this year is gonna be craaazy. Even game 1 against NIU might be a decent game.
