If you preregistered for football tx then this is your week to buy them. Today was seniors tomorrow jrs etc. Starts at 7 am and ends at 2 pm.

The school decided not to remind people of registration dates and tx selling dates by email anymore.
A few less than 40,000 students are registered to buy 22,000 tx.

This is the first yr. tx are on your student ID. So no more scalpers which is awesome.

Did anyone else buying senior tickets have trouble bringing up the ticketmaster page? It took me 30 minutes just to get on today but it finally worked. Anyone know when they were sold out?

S had a different problem. He got into ticketmaster, but when he tried to check out with his mastercard it would not accept it. It said that there was a problem processing his card. He then tried checking out with my mastercard and the same thing happened. Finally, it accepted his visa debit card. He ended up re-entering the ticketmaster website using the venue link four or five times before he was able to complete the transaction. It took over 20 minutes to get through it all.

Son had no problem buying tickets or connecting on Monday.

Student central site states it will say when tx are sold out. For the last two days they only posted that ticket sales were over at 2:00pm. Either they were not updating (likely)or sales were slow.

If sales were slow my guess is that they did not remind anyone by email that it was time to buy txs and most students were used to getting the reminder. Could scalpers have pushed up demand that much in the past?

Doubtful. They limit the number of tickets for one/student, so that eliminates students buying extra. Also, buying a ticket and not using it kinda sucks, main campus is empty when there is a fb game going on at Beaver Stadium.

Last year ticekts sold out in under a minute for the fresh, soph, and jr tickets. I think the site is just not updating.

The collegian should post an article sometime next week reviewing the sale.

My S was shut out last year as a freshman. But this year he got his student ticket!!! Personally, I like that they are putting the tickets on the IDs to limit scalping. Last year, literally minutes after being shut out, we went onto E-Bay, and you could buy someone’s tickets for $1,000 or more. That was not fair.

I think the change in ticket policy has made a big difference.
All of my s’s friends got tickets this year. Big change from last year.
Re the no notice policy…if you’re really motivated to get tickets, you’ll mark it on your calendar.
Yeah, most main campus kids buy tickets and attend…but i think some of these kids and a LOT of the branch kids were buying just to sell. We have an example down the street… a kid who goes to a local branch campus. He traveled to maybe one game during the year and boasted about all the money he made on the other tickets. Don’t think he bought this year…yay.

Yep, we were able to get our tickets today with no trouble. Much better than last year, when we were left frustrated with no tickets, even though we jumped on the site the minute the sale started.

I noticed all the sales start at 7 a.m. except freshmen, whose sale starts at 8 p.m. I’m assuming that’s because some freshmen will be attending FTCAP this week and therefore wouldn’t be available at 7 a.m. But I’m wondering if the early start helped our chances, as I’m guessing at least a few kids overslept and were late for the sale.

I think Penn State addressing the students scalping tickets is important. My son’s freshman year(two years ago), we were at FTCAP and had to stay back at the hotel borrow a laptop to purchase him tickets. It was a nightmare, he did not get tickets. Many of the students and parents at FTCAP were so upset. We ended up paying $700.00 on ebay for a set. The student we bought it through made $500.00 on the deal. We wanted our son especially being a freshman to be able to experience Penn State football. Last year he was lucky and got them althought they sold out in 90 seconds. This year took 30 minutes with ticketmaster problems on the first day. We have spoken to the ticket office about freshman testing and ticket sales and students from other Penn State campus(20) having the same opportunity as University Park. Now at least they have addressed the problem and those students that are loyal fans are able to go. It’s a right move.

Yup, they definitely got it right! And I promise, sax, I did not write that article, but it sure says everything we experienced last year and this year. ;-)

Ok, my d’s an incoming freshman who says she will “die” if she doesn’t get the tickets tonight. Any suggestions or special tricks I should know? We have opened a ticketmaster account and are ready to be online at the dot of 8 (should we log on earlier to be safe?). I am worried and hoping all goes well. Since freshman are not pre-registered I am concerned about glitches. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Have her PSU ID number handy, as you will need that (you enter it as the password in the box on the first page).

Since some people have had problems this week getting the system to accept certain credit cards, I’d also have a backup card ready, in case you need it.

Thanks for the suggestions. This might sound like a stupid question, but did you log on prior to 7AM (8PM in my case) and keep hitting refresh until it came up or wait until the dot of 7 to log in? Just trying to figure out how to best do this. Thanks!

Not a stupid question collegemom. That was me the last year two years. I think I hit refresh until I got in. However I don’t think it made a difference. I bet you don’t have any problems this year though.

My best advice is to have the instructions right next to the computer so you can quickly go step by step. Good luck.
