For the first time since 1998, Michigan dropped from the top 25 in both the AP and ESPN Coaches polls. I hate to say it, but I think Lloyd Carr is too old and is running out of ideas. Creativitiy in designing plays which make coaches like Pete Carroll and Charlie Weis (save the msu game) successful is clearly lacking at Michigan. We have the talent, but we are not producing. We also lack the number one receiver in the country, who bailed us out of the msu game last year. I think a new coaching change is necessary to restore us to the status of a national power (as in legitimately ranked in the top 5-not for receiving bowl bids because we split the title of a weak conference...). I like Lloyd, but I think it's time for a change.

No crap....

I made $80 on the Wisconsin game. I bet against Michigan.

i was at the wisconsin game, in the wisconsin student section.... and it was a LOOONG drive home

I agree that Carr is getting old, but he is still a great coach. He will retire in 2008, and given what he done for the program, I believe he should be given the chance to retire with his integrity intact. But do not write this season off. In 1998, we started 0-2 and ended 10-3 with a Big 10 title and a Citrus Bowl win to finish the season #10 in the final poll.

It seems we couldn't win when Mike Hart was not playing. You can't win by throwing the ball without an effective running game. I know we had 143 yds rushing ... but could we run the ball when we needed to?

Overall Carr has been a pretty good coach who has run a fairly clean program. I wouldn't be too hasty to can the guy.

The Freep or News had a good article recently about how people will miss Carr when he is gone.

Fire Herman!!!

Oh, and Kevin Grady needs to stop fumbling the ball......

and Henne needs to stop slipping on the ground on 1 of the most important plays of the game, and fumbling the ball at the 1 yrd line, and overthrowing @ important plays again!...Henne is good, but he certainly makes plenty of mistakes that cost us the game

The next game should be interesting. State needs a good loss. How long is Hart out for?

Yeah Grady sucks.

Grady > Pittman

Pittman=not best runner on OSU
UM has better running backs, wideouts (very close though), and quarterbacks than OSU. But defense wins championships.

I think the big thing is that we need to find someone who can fill Braylon Edwards' shoes.

You would think Avant or Breaston would step up already.

Steve Breaston is garbage. Most over-hyped WR in NCAA.

I'd take Holmes and Ginn any day of the week over Avant and Breaston. Steve has dropped WAY too many balls, and hasn't shown the explosiveness.

Breaston was a qb in high school, which makes me wonder why Michigan chose to develop him as a receiver rather than a mobile qb. Anyway, he was expected to be "the most electrifying receiver in college football," much like a second Desmond Howard. The problem is he doesn't have the hands like howard, terrell, or braylon. Avant should always get the deep balls. Kevin Grady does not suck, he's just young. We need Hart back. teddy ginn and santonio holmes are FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR better receivers than avant and breaston. I would consider them to be one of the best receiving cores in the nation, along with usc's guys, of course. I still think Lloyd needs to retire/get fired. I know he's done great things for this program and had many successes, but he's just too old, too conservative, and not aggressive. I remember in the wisconsin game when the defense started getting really fired and pumping 9around the 4th quarter), lloyd motioned for them to calm down. I know when I compete I want to have as much energy as possible. Having someone tell me to settle down ruins my momentum. Lloyd goes by the books and lacks the creativity of coaches like Charlie Weis and Pete Carroll. I personally think Weis could be one of the best coaches in ncaa, considering what he's done with mediocre recruits (from Ty Willingham). I'm counting down until Lloyd retires/gets fired because then we can realistically hope for a national title (not just be ranked in the top 10 because of an accidental big ten split on a really bad year for the conference). Just my thoughts. Go Blue!

We'll miss Lloyd Carr when he's gone.

The Buckeyes didn't miss Coach Cooper when he was gone. You guys will be fine. If teams like Michigan, OSU, Texas, etc don't contend or win the national championship or win at least ten games or rank in the top 25 for two years in a row, the coach should be canned. Programs this powerful and big have no excuse for failure.

I MISS Cooper. He was the man. stupid tressel...:(
