Cooper=1-9-1 vs Michigan no national championships
Tressel=3-1 vs Michigan 1 national championship
That is good enough for me!

Guys, why are we comparing Carr to Cooper? Carr is 6-4 vs OSU, 6-1 vs Alvarez, 6-0 vs Paterno, 7-3 vs MSU, 18-5 (NCAA record) vs top 10 teams, has won 5 Big 10 titles in the last 8 seasons, won a national championship, has a 0.750 record (good for 5th place among active Division 1 coaches) and represents Michigan very well.

I agree that Carr lacks creativity and his teams seem to lack the killer instinct, but in all other ways, Carr is an awesome coach.

If Michigan has two back-to-back 4-loss seasons, we can start talking about Carr stepping down. But I really don't see that happening.

Unless things seriously turn around vs. MSU on Saturday, we are definitely headed to a 4-loss season, probably more.

You would rather wait for lloyd to retire (whenever that may be) than to see a new, dynamic coach use this talent to produce a national championship, alex???????? Lloyd was a good coach, but he's getting old, and I want a national title to happen when I'm studying here!

Let's Go Bucky!!!

nirvana - Henne isn't going to win a national title.

Michigan wins and I'm back on the bandwagon!

Gotta love the rivalry games!
Henne is better than griese, who won a national title...

But Henne doesn't have a two-way threat like Charles Woodson either.

fire herman! our defense is still awful.... our offense looked good, and missing hart is the only thing that held us back from winning in wisconsin

Defense was awful?

I thought the defense was pretty decent today. MSU is a good team that was averaging 45 points a game coming into today. Today we held them to 31. 10 of those points came off turnovers.

I was impressed by Michigan's performance all over the field against what I thought was a much superior team.

I agree dsmo, Stanton was leading the nation in efficiency and we held him to 1 TD and 1 INT. I would like to see our rush defense improve, otherwise, I think our D is doing ok.

holding a team to 31 points is something to be proud of? maybe you're thinking basketball...

When you are playing an offense that averages well above 31 points, then yes, it's something to be proud of. And when you consider that they had a Henne pick for terrible field position setting up a field goal, a Henne fumble for 7 points, the defense was better than it looks on the stat sheet.

One must also consider the setting. East Lansing is never an easy place to play.

I'm not convinced MSU's offense is as good as it claims. They haven't been really tested so far except for that Notre Dame game. Playing teams like Kent State, Hawaii and Illinois is not like you are playing against NCAA's first rate defenses.

I don't like the way we let them off the hook with third-and-long situations time after time again ... to allow 8 of 14 or 57% third down conversion is bad.

Besides, we could have easily lost this one. They just missed one more short field goal than we did. That was the difference of the game.

I think our offense will be fine and improve as long as Hart is healthy. I'm not so sure about our defense.

Ironically, it is opur Offense (in great part due to injuries to M Hart and the OL) that has hurt our team so far. At this point, I tend to agree that our Offense is looking better than our defense. Our WRs are waking up (Manningham is awesome and Avant is finally getting the openings), our OL is gelling despite the injuries and M Hart is back. But our Defense needs to toughen up...especially against the run. I guess we will find out a lot about our rush defense next week. Minnesota features one of the best running games in the nation.

i'm afraid we won't be able to stop maroney... but i'm from MN so i'll be happy no matter the outcome :)

I cannot see Michigan stopping Maroney either...but I also cannot see Michigan lose to Minnesota, not in the Big House. But Michigan had better take Minnestoa very seriously.

I hope we don't lose to MN at home, but we almost did last year :(
