Foothill Wireless?

Is the Airbears wireless service still available in the dorm rooms (FH, specifically)? Are there any advantages to using the wired connection in dorm rooms?

Also, what length ethernet cable is recommended for a wired connection (FH, specifically, again)?

Yes, you can get wifi in Foothill. However, I remember not having too strong of a connection in my room at La Loma. The advantage of using wifi is that you can carry your laptop around to other friends’ rooms or the common room. It’s pretty much just mobility, but you should also remember the safety issues with using wifi.

I’m not sure how it is for every room in Foothill, but I remember the ethernet connection being at the end of the room near the windows. Depending on how far your desk or laptop is from the window area, my 25 ft one was just fine.

never used wifi…could you possibly expand a little about the safety issues?

I remember I couldn’t get wifi at ALL in my room or in the common. Perhaps that’s changed now.

Some Hillside buildings get Airbears.

^Dude, trips me out every time I see you post. I keep thinking it’s me and thinking “I didn’t write that, did I?”

^/^^ Hahah

I couldn’t use wifi in my La Loma suite, but I know my friend who just lived one flight up could use wifi with her MacBook in the courtyard and her common room.

Hey so i will be living in FH
I was wondering do i need to bring an wireless router?

are there some dorm rooms that cannot get strong signal?
if thats the case would brining wireless router help getting a strong signal?

You may want to bring your own wireless router, but make sure you password it up.

oh so basically i can create a hotspot for my own room?

god-i had to use ethernet in my FH dorm frosh year. it was like 20 ft long and i tripped on it every 10 mins it seemed…
