For 2 yrs less, is CWRU worth it?

Hey guys,

I really like Case Western Reserve's 6 yr(2+4) dental program but its dental school is about 85,000/yr whereas Ohio State's in-state tuition for dental program is only about 50,000/yr. However if I chose to attend OSU it would be 8 yrs total. So should I choose CWR for the shorter time or OSU for the cheaper price???

Run the numbers and find out. What would the total bill be after the whole time? How much can your family afford?

The analysis should also include the expected earnings in years 7 and 8 if you went to CWRU.

My son loves CWR ! He is in Engineering however

CWRU is a great choice for anything in the medical field. The university hospital and cleveland clinic create a wonderful atmosphere for students. In addition, Case has a very good reputation which is useful in finding a good job after school.

How much of that total bill is going to be college loans? Run those numbers through the calculators at [FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans](http://www.finaid.org) and take a look at what that kind of debt could mean for you.

Does your academic profile mean that you are eligible for any major scholarships at OSU? How cheap can you get your first four years for?

Does the OSU Dent School absolutely require that you finish a full four year degree before enrolling, or do they have an early entry option if you have met the basic admission requirements?

If you decide that you don’t want Dent School after a year or so of college, which of these two institutions offers other career options that you could be interested in?

Since you haven’t even applied to either place yet, it may be better to wait until you actually have any admissions offers and financial aid packages on the table. Things may look very different in April.
