This thread is for all transfer students who were ACCEPTED to FSU for Fall 2012!! Since we will all be going to a new campus in a new city with new people, I figured we are all probably feeling the same way: nervous, excited, and hopeful! Most of us are probably trying to decide where to live, thinking about orientation (which starts in Mar), and hoping to make friends at FSU. So I thought why not make a thread so that we can all get to know each other, ask questions, maybe find a roommate, or at least know someone who is attending the same orientation session.

So to start off: Post your name, class standing, orientation date, major, and anything else you want. :)

My name is Devon (I'm a girl), I'll be an incoming junior, orientation is March 19th, and majoring in actuarial science. I enjoy playing soccer and volleyball, volunteering, watching my favorite tv shows, and baking. I'm looking to live within walking distance to campus, but haven't decided where yet. (Looking for roommates!)

Still waiting as well. Applied in mid December so hopefully the decision is made soon. I’ve already been accepted to UWF and USF, just waiting on my first choice school.

Hey everybody!
I’m also still waiting for a decision, the admissions office said to expect it with-in 4-6 weeks, so I’m hoping anyday now I’ll get it.
For those of you already accepted, how long did it take? I’ve fallen in-love with florida State, so I’m pretty much going crazy. lol.

I am still waiting as well. I applied in December for Summer 2012 and still have not heard anything back. I am nervous because I am applying as a lower division transfer and I know transfers with an AA get priority. Any one applying as a lower division transfer? I wonder how late our decisions will come out! how do they expect people to look for housing so late?!

Hey I made an account just to reply. Lower-division transfer here (can’t take any more comm. college, haha.) I think we’re notified on or by March 7th, but I’m not completely sure. And yeah, the housing thing is probably going to be a pain I’d imagine. Waiting sure does suck :(. If you find out for certain how it works, it’d be extremely helpful if you updated this thread and if I find anything out, I’ll do the same!

Where did you hear March 7th from? i hope its true! And yes, looking for housing is one thing that may be difficult around this time but i hope the long wait will be worth it. I will definitely update this thread if I hear any information. What term did you apply for? And when did you apply?

Aw, I wasn’t paying attention. It’s from the College of Music page apparently, my bad. (A-R Editions Online Music Anthology - Florida State University College of Music) Guess I’ll give admissions a call tomorrow for the third or fourth time this week. There doesn’t seem to be that much clear info on lower-division transfers to be honest. Since we’re kind of half-transfer and half-freshmen (in that we need ACT or SAT scores and whatnot) it can be hard to tell where we fit in when most of the information is about either of those. I applied at the beginning of January and I’m applying for Summer 2012 as well.

Hopefully we all find out soon. I applied all the way back in August of 2011.

I was told 4-6 weeks for an admission decision from the beginning of January (Received my transcript over break) Being Feb 16, its now about 6 weeks.

Hopefully i find out asap as i registered with friends for an apartment at Tenn Street Station and they are getting on my back cause i havent signed a lease yet.

are you also applying as a lower division transfer?

I know the application process is a 2 step process. First, the school accepts you then the college of your major must accept you. Has anyone been notified that their application has been reviewed by admissions and has been referred to the college of your major?

Noles, what major did you list when you applied? Unless it’s a limited access major at FSU, then as long as you have satisfied the pre-reqs for the major the odds of the college denying you is very low.

There are 3 prereqs for the major and ive completed 2 of 3 cause i changed my major last semester. In my application i put that im taking the 3rd over summer so i should be fine.

Im getting hassled by the Tenn Street Station to sign a lease asap cause the other 3 people in the apartment signed. Hopefully i find out within the week cause i dont want to hold back our priority in apartments.
