For all the informed parents: how much of your child's success is through you?

100% because without us she would not have been born.

We have provided our kids with a lot of the same things as most of the others on this thread have.

One thing that is tough to measure is that most of their role models have all completed college and work at professions they find very rewarding–personally and financially. Our was trying in pre-school and grade school to decide whether she wanted to attend college in HI or the continental US and didn’t learn that not all kids go to college until late in middle school! She says it IS a lot of pressure to succeed, but is OK with handling it.

In particular, I feel fortunate that we were able to get the kids the medical & emotional support to help them finish HS & college, even with their chronic health issues. We are especially pleased that S has found a field where he is able to thrive and hope D will as well.

Some is admittedly that they have a lot of native intelligence that they were born with, but we and their environment have helped nurture it.
