For All The People Tired Of Waiting

mainevent, it makes perfect sense. where did you read about the 8% acceptance? i thought it was less than that... maybe thats for the cinema school as a whole

JumpStart? Anyone? :)

The production program supposedly has an acceptance rate of right around 6% and the entire school's is about less than 9%, while the Writing and Critical Studies programs is about 7-8%. I read it on Daily Trojan somewhere.

Anybody notice that most of the outrageous acceptances have not had stellar numbers, but they have taken pretty heavy courseloads. I have a feeling that USC is not the type of school to look past the rigor of classes in lieu of high test scores. I saw someone who got rejected from USC with a 2200 but got into Harvard. They don't want any indicatives of slackers, I guess. Harvard just wants to keep its numbers up

okay, still havent heard anything in TX and here are my stats:
SAT: 2160 (CR=670, M=740, W=750)
SAT II: math1=760 literature=780
AP's: US history= 5, english language= 5
GPA: uw=3.7 , w=5/6.0
senior classes= aquatic science, AP calc ab, speech(req.), AP gov, AP economics, AP english 4, and varsity softball...got like a 3.7 uw last semester

EC's: 4 yrs varsity softball satrting pitcher (wrote about this for one of the short answers, and it was pretty good)
1st team all district softball in 04, 05, and 06 (softball doesnt end til may so wont hear bout 07 all district til then)
2006 all region softball
4 years of academic excellence award (like honor roll)
*National merit finalist, usc first choice
then some ec's i wasnt super involved with like DECA, habitat4humanity, YES service program, etc

work experience as a hostess

i think my app was pretty good my essay was like a 7 on an AP 9 scale i think..good short answers

i called and she said my app was complete

major: communications BA

hate to post all this lol cause everyone does it..it just concerns me to see the waves keep coming and the stats getting lower andd lower when mine are like on par with the waves in early-mid march..it makes me think i screwed something up

I need another one of these:

Guys, I feel as if I am in limbo right now. I have a research paper due next week, and I have barely started cause every time I open it, a new message pops up here at CC and I HAVE to check it. This is bad, cause I always LOVE doing research papers. I'm weird like that, I know.

i hope the waves keep getting lower.. ahah ive almost given up hope by now (i know everyone keeps saying the majority will come april 1st, but it is so hard to believe that when i've heard of so many people getting in already).

yea it seems like the majority came out already

Well, not the majority. I mean, they do accept a little over 8000 applicants, just because it seems like the few who have been accepted on this forum account for the whole population, it's not true.

yeah but a bunch of my friends too, i mean im probably just freaking out for no reason, but i just don't want to get my hopes up. so oh well, whatever happens happens!

you guys comon...people have already called admissions, almost all of them say that the admissions only come out on april 1, but then finally one of them admitted that a few admissions will trickle out until the majority on April 1...

its just so hard to believe that

^^^ nothing we can do but wait and be optimistic!

I feel like the longer it takes to get your letter means, you will get in for second semester, but I seriously can't wait any longer...

the amount of people getting in for second semester is really small...I think we have over embellished the spring admittance abundance

yeah I don't think the timing of the letters is really gonna have to do with spring term admittance, I have some friends who heard back in early march because they were considered for scholarships. i think that has a lot to do with why they don't send out regular decisions until april. they let the scholarship kids know first, deal with them, then move on to RD kids. thats just my idea anyway

I really don't think that there is any method to the madness. I was rifling through the posts from last year and highly qualified people weren't getting in until early April, like people with 2300+ SAT scores. And there were people with extremely low scores and quite unqualified (numerically speaking) who got in as early as Febuary. So, don't worry too much about not getting something already.
