For all those applying in the fall

Ok, heres what ive learned from my whole application ordeal...

I wanna start off by saying im an out of state student who will be attending the University of Virginia in August. My grades were good...but many on CC prob wouldnt feel the same. Many people here, at school, and my GC told me not to bother applying to UVA because of how hard it is to get in OOS. So anyway, my dad pushed me to do it cause i would have otherwise not done it and look what happened.

So now here is my advice to everyone here. I see alot of What are my chances threads and im not gonna lie...i posted my share of them, but heres what everyone here needs to do. Do not let any kind of feedback from anyone make you decide to not apply to a school you are interested in going to. I dont care if you have a 3.0 GPA with 1800 SAT scores...if you wanna apply to harvard then do it! Who cares if you dont get in, but now that your apps in you do have more of a chance then if you listened to some of these clowns who told you not to bother.

College admissions are funny and unpredictable, they may see something in you that they like and that may rise above your scores...so if you have a dream of going to an ivy or any other school that seems unrealistic...WHO CARES!!! APPLY ANYWAY!!!

Now heres some strategical suggestions for those of you who want an edge if you have a so so resume. Try looking at the larger schools that are high up there in the ranking. Many of these schools will take a few low scorers if they like the rest of your application because a few low SAT/GPA's wont effect their averages. I can guarentee it, but you need to make sure your other stuff shines.

Another good suggestion is to apply to programs that make you unique. It doesnt matter what you get accepted as, point is you got accepted and you are gonna be a student. I have guy friends with 3.5 and 2000 who got into UPENN nursing. You know what, you may laugh and you may frown upon that...but hey they are going to UPENN, and you arent. They can alllwaaays change their interests if they choose to, no1 is gonna ever hold a gun to your head and say you HAVE to continue nursing. They played their cards right and won the hand...do what you have to do.

100% Agree

Inspiring to say the least. Don't give up on your dreams guys. :]

Can I ask your stats please? UVA is pretty much my dream school, but i'm afraid I dont have near the stats to get in.

People told me Hopkins was a huge reach.
Somehow I got in.
I'm still amazed.

lol JPoD, you are missing the point of my thread big guy, look back at my posts tho they r prob somehwere in there, but my resume is diff then whats on yours...so i dont think you should use that to put your mind at ease

good for you Bill h, thats the kinda stuff im talking bout!!!

"lol JPoD, you are missing the point of my thread big guy, look back at my posts tho they r prob somehwere in there, but my resume is diff then whats on yours...so i dont think you should use that to put your mind at ease"

I completely understand the point, i'm just asking what you got...It doesnt say either.

***, i thought your grades were worse. 3.8, 1280? I'm not surprised. Myself on the other hand...I'm far from that.

was your sat out of 2400?

I saw a 1510 in the threads.

i got a 1910/2400 and 1280 3.88 GPA

You guys are giving me hope to apply to some tough schools. It seems like all the smart people with 2200+ are getting rejected at the good schools, making me feel like I have no chance.

your post gives me hope!!!!

na man go for it!

i got a 1910/2400 and 1280 3.88 GPA

Yeah, big deal dude. I thought u had like an 1800 and like a 3.4 or something. Im not surprised....

ur not surprised about wut
