For all you college people...

What was your HS GPA (and on what kind of scale)?

What college are going to, what scale do they use, and what was/is your GPA for your college freshmen year.

I'm really worried because all my teachers are saying college is a whole different ballgame, they said a HS GPA of A can easily translate to a college GPA of B. Is this true? Thanks for the info. in advance.

My GPA was a SOLID 1.5...and I got into Harvard...maybe it is because I am an underrepresented minority: Martian

hahahahahahah....... fei thats the funniest thing ive heard in a long time. I'm about to fall out of my chair.

thanks for the informative reply

3.98
Cornell
Currently: 3.76

u know how most of you are all used to and A+, A, or A- is a 4.0? well, in college, your A- is either a 3.7 or 3.66 (depends on which college u go to), and theres no weighted gpa. so most likely your gpa is gonna drop cuz of no weighting and cuz + and - are taken into effect. also, if u get a bad grade in a class that carries a lot of units, it will hurt more.

many of my friends have gpa shock. for example, one of my friends had a 4.0 uw gpa in h/s, now 3.3 in college. as for me, my h/s uw gpa is around 3.85, college gpa is 3.68 1st quarter (thats with only one B grade)

kfc4u, you are a Rowland Graduate,right? I am a sophomore there.

wow i am always suprised by how many rowland kids are on this board. and to think that rowland is just a typical public school. i guess we like to overachieve ^_^

kfc4u, do you know any Rowland kids went to ivies?

HS GPA ~2.7/4.0

Went to University Wisconsin-Oshkosh (biochem major). They used A=4.0, AB=3.5, B=3.0, BC=2.5, ...

Transferred to Purdue with a 3.2 college GPA for applied physics. They use A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, ...

Hmm....HS GPA 4.0/4.0 Go To Georgia Tech and have a 3.71. Some of the easier As in high school are much harder to get in college....at least here, there are a few cutthroat classes that will force you to go the extra mile to secure the A.

HS GPA 4.0
College GPA 3.95

Let's see how well I do this quarter.

HS GPA: 3.6
1st semester: 2.87 (i'd say about average here... average graduating gpa = ~3.1)

fallinwater0328,

yes, someone got into cornell on early decision this year. we've also had some other ivy admits in the past few years... one got into harvard (but chose stanford), one got into princeton and some others (but chose stanford), one matriculated at dartmouth, two matriculated at harvard, two matriculated at upenn... i dont know anything about rowland and brown/yale.

theres also several rowland kids at stanford, as well as kids in caltech, northwestern, amherst, west point, and others.

we'll see about yale and brown this year at Rowland (im a senior)... fallinwater0328. quite a few are applying to yale.. including people with 1590, and 1600 SAT, but tey're not the most social people in the world though... *shrugs. im just happy i got into my first choice school.. and hey, as a sophomore, don't stress too much about colleges =D. just friendly advice..

i thought that one guy applying to yale has a 1580. but nevertheless, he is not well-rounded. the girl with the 1600 is even less extracurricular participation. they both seem to be the smart student who doesnt care for anything more than academics.

I had a HS GPA of 3.65 and I'm now at NYU.

high school: 4.2weighted, 3.8unweighted

I'm now at American University, had a 3.93 in the fall... (on a 4.0, 3.7, 3.3, 3.0, etc scale) but only with 15 credits and I worked my ass off.. this semester with 18 credits will surely not bring such good results

HS: 4.2
College at UC Berkeley: 3.8 (Only one semester so far)
