HI, im a female junior (moved to US 4 years ago), and I took the march SAT.

I got

CR: 590 (yeah, i know :X)
M: 800
W: 670 (9 on essay)
- total 1390/1600 & 2060/2400

Im pretty okay with vocabs, I memorized all the hot words and stuff, and I do alright in them in all PT.
the thing is, I do horribly in reading and I almost always run out of time and get stuck on alot of 'referring/suggest' questions.
can anyone give me tips on how to attack the CR passage portion?
thanks

There are a plethora of ways to tackle this section. What I do is read through the passage really quickly (and I mean REALLY quickly), not so fast I skip stuff, but so that I get a general idea of the passage. I don't look at any of the questions.

Then I go through and read slowly, underlining what I think it an important point (don't waste much time on this).

Lastly, I begin answering the questions, and always read the paragraph that the line or word in question is in.

Practice this enough, and you will condense the last two steps into one, so that after your pre-read, you move back and forth between the passage and the questions, working your way through.

This worked for me (800 CR), but it may not suit you. In that case, the one thing I would still recommend heavily is a pre-read. It doesn't eat up much time, and it means that * you already know that the whole thing is about before you start reading it thoroughly *

Good luck! :)
