For anyone who goes to a private high school..

Does your school use the 1st sem. of senior yr to calculate the cumulative UW GPA that colleges see? I'm not sure about my school and won't know for 2 months.. I'd like to know what most private high schools do :]

Private high schools are as varied as public high schools.

But almost universally, you will apply before your first semester ends and therefore it is impossible to calculate the grades in. If you apply after your first semester ends (which I highly recommend against as usually that is in Dec/Jan) then the universities will see those grades, since they will be on transcripts. Additionally, most colleges request your first semester grades and therefore they will be counted in your GPA.

So only if you apply RD, those grades are on your transcript?

Really? I didn’t know that most colleges used 1st semester grades towards GPAs… Good to know, if true.

As I said, if you apply after your semester ends, then they’ll be on your transcript.

And whether the college uses them in your GPA is up to the college. Normally, they will use them if they are there, and they won’t if they’re not. But either way, the college will see both senior semesters if they decide that they want you- which is why you still need to work really hard your senior year.
