For anyone who might apply B.A. & Sc (Bachelor arts & sciences)

I figure I don't want anyone else to have the same problems that I had to face applying to McGill.

First my situation: I am fairly unsure with what I want to do with my life, what I want to concentrate my studies on, careers, etc. I do know I like things like French and Music, etc etc. I figured I would apply to the faculty of arts & sciences because its neither arts nor sciences, it's both! so I'd have the widest scope of options.

this isn't exactly the case. BASc freshman requirements are very science and math orientated, and I was NOT about to do that. I tried diligently to switch to arts, but they wouldnt let me.

But Don't worry! for some reason, it's very relaxed what classes you can take. Right now I'm taking 5 arts electives to scope out the different subjects. I spoke with a few people who said that even though I'm BASc, it would be fine to just take WHATEVER I WANT (yessss). Don't expect to get any help from email. I was lucky and had a good advisor, so i got some responses, but it's basically worthless. Just hope for the best.

Cheers

To second that, a friend of mine (from the U.S. I might add) made the same mistake, but now it's cool. She will switch into Arts at the first opportunity (turns out they refund part of her tuition because B.A. is cheaper than BASc. (you also don't pay all the science student society fees and ancillaries).
For now thought, she's getting along fine being a pretend BASTARD (that's the Bachelor of Arts and Science Temporary Associative Representative Department) or something of the sort. She doesn't take a single science class.
Also, she gets free printing in the Basement of Burnside (with the science students) and gets to go to the Arts Lounge too- sweet
