For AP economics prep book

I plan to self-study AP micro and macro economics, and I saw some posts recommend PR as review book and principals of economics (Mankiw) for text book. I searched the second one on Amazon and only find a hard cover.

(Amazon.com: Principles of Economics (9780324589979): N. Gregory Mankiw: Books)

For those of you who have used this book, is it the right one? It is really expensive though($152). Thanks.

I’m in macro now and we use a workbook from morton and it is simply titled MACROECONOMICS. I know they make one for micro as well. I think they’re extremely useful.

thanks ufcollins

For AP Micro and Macro, Mankiw would probably be the best - I myself used it to self-study a while ago and got a 5 on both so it definitely covers all the material.

You could easily get away with purchasing an older edition of Mankiw (I personally used the 4th, which has a blue cover), which can save you quite a bit. On Amazon marketplace, you can get a new copy of Mankiw (4th edition) for $78, or a used copy for $25. New editions of these popular textbooks pretty much just add a little new current affairs information, more pictures, and more white-space; the fundamental economic principles won’t change at the principles level.

That’s very helpful EphemeralEternal. Hope I can get a 5 in the AP test next year!

i really really like my 5 steps to a 5 book. more like love. it is written very logically, and i find it really easy to understand. this was my first 5 steps book, and so far its helped me understand the concepts really well, and i have a very high grade in the class.

my friend got a copy of kaplan, and she wasnt very pleased with it because it was so brief.
