I was wondering why I have to put two majors/schools that I want to apply to in a certain school. Is it so if I dont get into my first choice, I still have a chance to get into the second major?

can someone just explain this whole process for me? Thanks

Most likely that is the case. Most schools want to accept you, but if they can’t place you in Major 1, they will try to admit you for major #2. More selective schools may want you to discuss both majors/schools in one of the essays, if you indicate more than 1 (Carnegie Mellon, for example). Hope this helps!
