For Applied Mathematics: UCLA or Berkeley?

Which one would you recommend to attend:

Math/Econ at UCLA or Applied Mathematics at UCB?

UCB Math department ranking's is the second best in the world. UCLA is # 10.

But USNews ranks UCLA to be the second best nationwide in Applied Math and UCB # 8. but again I don't know how that compares to the Math/Econ major at UCLA?

Don't get me wrong, Both are Great schools and wonderful programs, but which one would you go for in terms of the posted majors.

Thanks

do you even know what those rankings are based off of? It doesn’t make sense to choose a program over another if you don’t know why one is ranked higher than the other. I wouldn’t make a decision based on what a magazine says. At the undergraduate level, the differences in the programs are negligible.

What JetForce is trying to say is: UCB’s math department is one of the best in the world. UCLA’s is up there too. Go with what feels right.

Fully agree with JetForce.
