For average test takers

To all those people who want to get accepted into Newhouse without high SAT scores, there is hope! I just got accepted tino the dual enrollment program for Business and Public Communications.

My stats were
1080 SAT C.R. and Math
4.0 GPA
2/209 Class Rank

Everyone told me i had no shot since my SAT's were so low. They all said that i needed to have at least have a 1300. However that is false!

If you truly show in your application how much you want to go there, they will accept you. Also, i went to an interview that Syracuse held in Pittsburgh. I did really well, and I believe that also had a big impact on their decison to accept me.

So if your scores are not all that high, still apply! Just remember to show off everything else on your application!

Thanks, I'm im a very similar situation to yours (even have a similar major in mind)

Hope (:

Yup, same thing happened with me. I only have a 1220 SAT and everyone told me I had no shot. But I had an extremly good GPA, im very involved in my school, great letters of rec. and I also wrote some really strong essays and demonstrated through them my extreme passion for SU. I did the interview, campus tours, contacted reps, etc. I was so excited to see that I was admitted. So I completly agree, if you really want to go there, apply and see what happens, it's likely to turn out your way. Congrats Kyle, can't wait to see you in the fall! So excited<3

a 1220 isn't as bad as a 1080......
what was your 2400 score?

Mine was only a 1610

1820...idk I didn't feel that confident about it. I suppose it's not that bad, but I don't think that its Newhouse material either.

Hey, SAT's are not everything. They do not define how smart a person is, just how good of a test taker. Syracuse looked above our scores and saw something that they wanted!

Congratulations Cuse_nerd!

well SAT scores do show something - usually how much you've learned over the course of your high school career since they test basic high school skills. however, i think high school GPA is a better indicator especially if you're taking college level courses.
