For biology/molecular biology...

Which schools would offer the strongest biology programs in the mid-atlantic/northeast area? I've had considerable difficulty in finding a school that hosts such programs that I would have a good chance at getting into.

Caucasian Male
SATI: 1350/1600 (2000/2400) -- hoping for a 2100 on retake in October
SATII: Will be taking Math 2 and Bio M
GPA: 3.8 (not sure whether it's weighted or UW as my school doesn't seem to distinguish)
Rank: 11/111 (top 10%, nothing that special)
AP: Bio, USH so far...taking Chem and Calc B/C this year (perhaps self study Stats)
EC: XC (3 years), RTS Club (co-founder) -- starcraft etc., Track (4 years), NHS, various academic clubs related to NHS and roughly 200+ hrs service

I'm very interested in LACs (5,000 or less students would be great)--would prefer suggestions in the general area of PA (don't want to drive more than 5-6 hours to school).

Haverford has a very good joint biology program with Bryn Mawr. The sciences at Carnegie Mellon (not a LAC) and Franklin & Marshall are also excellent.

If you get your scores up a bit, Hopkins would be worth a look.

Pertaining to Haverford (as I’ve had my little eyes set upon it for the longest time), is there a higher likelihood of acceptance if I were to apply early/interview. I realize these questions are rather rhetorical, but I’d also like the general consensus from the CC community. Also – I’ve already decided that I’ll do some sort of overnight experience/sleepover/look in on classes type of activity prior to applying early anywhere. As small as its student body is, I would love to know if anyone on CC is currently, will be, or has gone to Haverford.

1) Yes, applying ED helps.

2) I know of at least one or two Haverford affiliates who post somewhat frequently. You might try the Haverford board.
