For Business Schools, which teacher should I get a recommendation from?

Hey. I am apply EA to Georgetown McDonough Business School and I was wondering which teacher I should get a recommendation from.

On the Georgetown undergraduate application, it states that I should get a recommendation from either a social studies teacher or a math teacher.

Over the summer, my last year's history teacher (social studies = history right?) for AP US History wrote a recommendation for me.

I read the recommendation over and it is pretty good and he said a lot of nice things but he focused more on how I write well and have historical knowledge/inquisitve mind.

Will this have any bearing for a business school? Like will the ad comms think..will the kid (me) writes well but that is irrelavent to business?

I was thinking of telling him to edit a little bit (like one paragraph and tell the ad comms that due to my inquisitve mind and historical proficiency, I am able to predict trends and thus can be successful as a financial analyst/stock broker...or something along those lines).

Or should I just go to my math teacher from last year (AP Calculus AB) and ask her for a recommendation?

Thanks in advance.

Who do you think will give a more accurate description of yourself as a person/student to Georgetown? I'd go with that one.

Also, when I mean more accurate, I do also mean more glowing recommendation :)

why not send two?

^^^^

Hmmm I was thinking of doing that but I don't know if we are allowed to send extra stuff that the application doesn't ask for.

Like it might seem that I can't follow directions.

But I will give that some thought.

well, i think the history one sounds pretty good... you said the history teacher talks about your writing skills right? well, one important aspect for business is your writing skills, so i think you should be fine..

also, just wondering, what are your stats, cuz i am a junior who also want to apply to georgetown, but i think that its too much of a reach for me...

It's not following directions if you send an audition tape of you singing when you're supposed to write some essay. :)

^^^

Huh?

Sorry I didn't really get that last comment. lol.

So are you saying that it would be bad if I sent in an extra rec or something like a magazine (A World Language Magazine that I was the Fundraising Supervisior for and the Spanish Editor) I published to Gerogetown Business School if they don't ask for it?

Thanks for the clarification.

As long as the extra rec says something different about you, it's fine to send. A rec from an employer and/or a place where you did a lot of volunteering and made an impact is worth sending along.
