D just accepted. We are going for accepted student visit and if she chooses Columbia will be going obviously much more. NYC is vast when it comes to choosing a hotel. Any reasonably priced places you would recommend?
Thanks!
@swtaffy904 If you go to Columbia University’s website: visitor center- Accommodations, it lists some hotels nearby.
I stayed at Hotel Belleclaire when I visited. There’s also the Lucerne. In general if you get a hotel anywhere on the west side, it’s pretty easy to just take the 1 up.
We’ve had good stays at NYLO, which is across the street from Hotel Belleclaire.
Thank you!
Union Theological Seminary rents its guestrooms and they are reasonably priced for NY and a quick walk from the Morningside campus – https://utsnyc.edu/about/landmark/
The Aloft Harlem is new and really nice - a longer walk or a quick Uber and it too is reasonable.
I recommend the Marriott Courtyard New York Manhattan/Upper East Side. It’s on 92nd Street near the East River, so a rather long walk to campus but a quick Uber/cab ride. If you’re driving yourselves, parking is possible in the neighborhood but a garage is right there if you strike out. Room prices are quite reasonable; anything cheaper in Manhattan will be a semi-flophouse.
