For Common App - report weighted GPA 9-11 or 10-11?

When it asks for your GPA in the main part of the Common App, what should I put:

  1. unweighted or weighted?
  2. 9-11 or 10-11?
  3. With all classes included or only college prep/ academic classes included?

I don’t see any guidelines of which GPA to list. Thank you!

You put in whatever your school reports on your transcript. Don’t try and guess what makes you look more competitive (weighting, only counting certain classes, choosing certain years, etc). If you don’t know what your transcript will say, ask your GC.

Here are the guidelines:

Bottom line - match the transcript.

@helpingmom40 @skieurope I guess the challenge we have is that the transcript lists three (actually six) GPAs!! Here is what is on the transcript…input on which one to list would be appreciated!!

Academic GPA (9-12) 4.35 weighted 3.97 non-weighted
Academic GPA (10-12) 4.52 weighted 3.96 non-weighted
Total GPA (9-12) 4.33 weighted 3.98 non-weighted

Use total GPA weighted. The difference between total weighted and academic weighted is like a pimple on an elephant’s butt. Regardless, the college gets the transcript and will parse the data as it sees fit.

Agree on both - use weighted total GPA but each school will look at your transcript and use the data as they choose.
